Jared K. Cook
Jared came to Adams Bell Adams in 2016 with 6 years of experience as an attorney litigating class and collective wage and hour actions and employment discrimination cases in federal court. He is able now to use that experience to represent parties not only in employment matters, but in all kinds of litigation in both federal court and state court. His current litigation practice also involves a substantial amount of litigation on contract issues. He primarily represented employees before coming to Adams Bell Adams, and is able to use that experience not only in litigation on behalf of employer or employees, but also to advise employers on their current wage and hour policies to help them reduce their risk of unnecessary litigation.
Jared also has experience with appellate practice. He has successfully briefed and argued appeals in the Fourth and Third Departments of the New York State Appellate Division in cases involving contract litigation. He has also drafted briefs for federal appeals involving issues of employment law and civil procedure in the Second, Third, Fourth, and Sixth Circuit Courts of Appeals, and he has drafted petitions for certiorari filed with the United States Supreme Court involving issues of statutory interpretation under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the constitutional right of due process in the context of exercise of jurisdiction by state courts over out-of-state defendants.
Jared’s experience also includes cases involving first amendment issues, including both religious freedom and free speech issues.
Jared is admitted to practice in New York State, and in federal court in the Western District of New York, the Northern District of New York, the Northern District of Ohio, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Jared participates in the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. He is an active member of the ABA Labor and Employment Law section. He volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America and is actively involved in his church. He enjoys backpacking, skiing, and cycling. Jared lives in Pittsford with his wife and three children.
